Dr Divya Bhantooa-Sohawon

General Practitioner & Coordinating Doctor

Dr Divya Bhantooa-Sohawon is a General Practitioner with over five years of experience in both hospital and private clinical settings. After earning her MBBS from Sun Yat-Sen University in China (2018), she began my medical journey as a Pre-Registration House Officer at Victoria Hospital, gaining hands-on training across multiple clinical departments.

Dr Bhantooa-Sohawon has also contributed to academia as a Tutor in the Surgical Department at Anna Medical College, mentoring medical students in both classroom and hospital settings. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she played a crucial role as the Coordinating and Leading Doctor in the national vaccination campaign at Victoria Hospital and in mobile teams.

Over the last 3 years, Dr Bhantooa-Sohawon has worked as a Resident Doctor at a private clinic, managing a wide range of medical cases including emergencies and minor surgical procedures. Alongside, she has also been providing community-based care through the Ministry of Social Security & National Solidarity, conducting domiciliary visits and supporting vulnerable populations.

Dr Bhantooa-Sohawon is currently working as a Coordinating Doctor at International SOS (Mauritius), a company specialised in providing health, security and well-being risk management services to organisations and their workforces. Her career reflects a strong commitment to patient-centered care, medical education, and public health service.

Outside of work, She enjoys reading and continuous learning, sports activities, travelling to explore different cultures, and engaging in community service initiative.

Dr Divya Bhantooa-Sohawon embodies compassion, resilience, and continuous learning. Her academic background in China, combined with varied clinical and public health experience, makes her a strong advocate for equitable access to healthcare and a valued contributor to the NouZetwals Health & Social Care Excellence Awards.
