Mauritius is a nation built on care — care for our families, our elders, our neighbours, and our communities. Every day, thousands of dedicated individuals across the island devote themselves to the wellbeing of others through their work in health and social care. From doctors, nurses, carers, and therapists to social workers, technicians, drivers, cleaners, and administrators — each plays an essential role in safeguarding the health, dignity, and safety of our nation.
For too long, the extraordinary work of these individuals has gone unrecognised. NouZetwals was created to change that — to uplift, honour, and celebrate those whose compassion and commitment hold our communities together.
At the heart of our mission lies the Health and Social Care Excellence Summit & Awards — a landmark national celebration recognising outstanding individuals and teams across the entire care continuum: public and private, clinical and non-clinical. The inaugural ceremony, set for 25 April 2026, marks the beginning of an annual tradition that shines a light on excellence and humanity in care.
Yet, NouZetwals is much more than an awards programme. It is a national movement — one that champions a culture of appreciation, collaboration, and pride in the care sector. Through ongoing legacy initiatives, we aim to embed recognition and gratitude into the DNA of our nation’s healthcare and social care systems. This enduring change will not only uplift the workforce but also strengthen the resilience and sustainability of the sector for generations to come.
I would like the community to better understand the passion and compassion that drive these professions. They often do extraordinary work in the shadows. These awards will truly highlight their excellence.
