Alison Magnall

Lecturer in Health & Social Care, RGN, RCN, BA Hons (Oxon) Masters (Oxon)

Alison gained her qualifications as an Adult and Children’s nurse in Liverpool and as a Health Visitor at the University of East London. She practised as a nurse in Liverpool, London, the United Arab Emirates, and Oxford, working in many challenging nursing, teaching, and management roles in both public and private sectors, healthcare colleges, and universities. She continued to work in healthcare whilst completing an Honours degree in English Language and Literature and a Master’s degree in Humanities at the University of Oxford and went on to teach vocational English to international healthcare professionals for a number of years as part of adaptation programmes, thus combining her two passions. She has also worked supporting international nurses in OSCE preparation. She has a number of publications in Hospital English and Intercultural Competency and has co-authored clinical publications in the UAE for pre-hospital clinicians.

Alison has been working in college healthcare since March 2024, supporting international students and their families. Alison has recently taken on an additional role supporting the family business in the trading of antique and vintage items.

A lifelong advocate for dignity and equality in care, Alison Magnall is delighted to support the NouZetwals Health and Social Care Excellence Awards in recognising those whose compassion and dedication improve lives every day.
