Fairness, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Champion Award
Successful health and social care systems need to be unambiguously equitable in terms of access – continually striving to ensure that barriers are removed and underrepresented groups can confidently be a part of the healthcare landscape in Mauritius.
This means both staff and services users – and we’d like to hear about people and projects that have pushed the accessibility agenda forward in Mauritius, ensuring that all feel valued and supported in their care needs.
What we are looking for in this award:
- Breaking Down Barriers – What specific obstacles or unfair treatment have they addressed for staff or service users? Describe particular inequities identified, systems changed, policies revised, or discriminatory practices challenged.
- Including Everyone – How have they made sure all people feel welcome, valued, and included? Consider accessibility improvements, cultural adaptations, language support, or initiatives to reach underrepresented groups.
- Reaching Out – How have they worked with groups that are often left out or treated unfairly? Include partnerships with community organisations, targeted outreach programmes, or work with marginalised communities.
- Real Changes – What evidence shows their work has made things more fair and equal? Provide data on representation, access to services, patient satisfaction among different groups, or measurable improvements in equity.
- Making Voices Heard – How have they helped people who are often ignored to be listened to and included? Describe consultation processes, advocacy work, platform creation, or amplification of underrepresented voices.
Who can nominate and how?
Nominations may come from colleagues, staff, service users, or community members who have observed the nominee’s efforts in promoting equity and inclusion.
