Dr. Prahamsa Honooman is a dedicated practitioner with a strong focus on acute and critical care medicine. He is recognised for his professionalism, academic engagement, and commitment to advancing patient-centred healthcare in Mauritius. A graduate of the University of Mauritius and the University of Geneva, he brings together solid academic grounding and practical experience in managing a wide range of medical and surgical conditions.

He currently serves as a Specialised Resident Medical Officer in the Intensive Care Unit, where he provides expert care to critically ill patients and leads multidisciplinary teams through complex, high-pressure situations with professionalism, precision, and compassion. His leadership has been instrumental in strengthening hospital preparedness, modernising critical care practices, and championing evidence-based approaches to improve outcomes in emergency and intensive care services.

Beyond his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Honooman is deeply committed to expanding access to quality healthcare. As Co-founder of Prevensia, a home-healthcare service, he promotes a more preventive, personalised, and accessible approach to medical care — bridging the gap between hospital treatment and community wellbeing.

A passionate educator, he also serves as a part-time lecturer at the University of Mauritius, where he mentors emerging clinicians and instils in them the values of ethical practice, accountability, and empathy. His dedication to continuous professional development and innovation in healthcare delivery extends to national and international collaborations focused on system resilience, capacity-building, and the integration of technology in critical care.
